Open up the file below for full results:

The results sheet has now been split between Time Trial bike (A) riders and Standard Road Bike riders - click on the tabs at the bottom. You now gain points after each ride and you must ride a minimum of 8 rides of either
discipline to be in with the chance of winning either classification. 50 points
for first, 49 for second etc.
This adds interesting little twist for those who regularly compete with other riders of a similar ability. Prizes are going to be awarded by Big Bear Bikes for the first time in 2012!

22nd August - 1m Sprint

Picture
"Its only a mile, how could that be so difficult?" is the question from those who have not ridden the 1mile sprint. The direction of racing is decided on the night depending on which way the wind is blowing. With the wind on every racers back, the countdown was given and the five riders set off at one minute intervals.
Just one second between winner, Paul Hickman 2:04 and Ralph Lilly 2:05 was a surprise. Cameron Turner came in third with 2:17.
Darren Felgate 2:25 has quickly found his racing wheels and is hot on the heels of Mick Potter (Pictured) 2:23.

1. Paul Hickman 2:04 (A)

8th Aug - 10m Time Trial

Picture
   Hickman does it again!
The Malton to Pickering road has been chipped which slows the riders down somewhat, but it didn't seem to slow our Paul Hickman down too much finishing with 22:02, nearly a full minute infront of Matthew Enticknap with 23:00. Enticknap was really pleased beating third position Ralph Lilley (23:05) who has had numerous wins at Manchester velodrome recently.
Our resident triathlete Sean McDermott rode his first ever timed trial on a time trial specific machine and beat his last attempt at this distance on a standard bike by more than a minute with 24:41, perhaps it is all about the bike!
Mick Potter (24:59) rolled home complaining that he had competed in too many time trials that week, but still finished ahead of Barrie Cappleman (25:18). Harry Jones and Frank Tobin joined Malton Wheelers this week and finished with a respectable 25:28 and 27:37 respectively.
Darren Felgate was dead pleased to get within his "line in the sand" of 30 minutes with a time of 28:36, while visitor, Glen Hull brought home the lantern rouge with 29:02.
Pictured, from the front are, Paul Hickman, Matthew Enticknap and Steve Kneeshaw competing in a recent three up team time trial.

1 Aug - Leavening Scramble

Picture
Take a leasurly ride up to Leavening from Norton and you will pass some beautiful countryside and relatively car free roads. Take it at speed in one of Malton Wheelers club time trials and you tend not to see the views as you wipe the sweat from your eyes!
Wednesday evenings race has seven riders racing against the watch and the wind which was in the riders face from the start. The night was never going to be a course time beater.
Dancing on the pedals was Paul Hickman who was triumphant....again.... with 14:58. Harry Jones was an invited rider from near Pockington and surprised everyone, including himself, coming in second place infront of Matthew Enticknap with 15:56, to Matthews 16:31.
Cameron Turner used his heavier aero bike and wished he hadn't as he crossed the line in fourth position with a time of 17:26, while Nick Hatton finished with 18:14
Tim Davies, sporting his comic "Wallace and Gromit" jersey sprinted up the last little rise into Leavening adn stopped the clock in 18:28, but bringing home the nights lantern rouge was Frank Tobin in 20:12, a time he is sure to improve.
Thanks go to Mick Potter for marshilling the crossroads and Jamie Strangeway for timekeeping.

1. Paul Hickman 14:58 (A)
2. Harry Jones 15:56
3. Matthew Enticknap 16:31
4. Cameron Turner 17:29 (A)

7. Frank Tobin 20:12

25 July - 10m Hilly Time Trial

Picture
Wednesday evening at Swinton was a wonderfull evening for a time trial. For racing cyclist, a strong headwind is one of the most difficult things to contend with which is why the aero position is so important. Tonight there was no wind to speak of at all, so times could be better overall. The only problem was the nature of the course, a rather hilly excursion throught the Hambleton Hills!
Those who regularly race in "open" events got a surprise when York rider Nigel Goscinski turned up for Malton Wheelers club time trial. Nigel is a fast guy, so he was set off as last man. Paul Hickman, our regular winner, was quaking in his overshoes!
It was a huge surprise to all when Paul and Steve Kneeshaw romped home with a time of 25:40 and 26:14 respectively, infront of Nigel (26:29) who shipped his chain at the Slingsby turn. Nigel would of won if not for this mechanical, but as this shows, races are won and lost through other reasons than your own personal fitness.
Scarborough rider Rob Powel made the effort to turn up for Maltons most difficult Time Trials all in the name of training for his cyclo cross season in Winter and crossed the line with 27:29 riding a standard road bike, while Cameron Turner crossed the line with 29:10 all aero'ed up!
New club member Johnny Kedal is loving being a "Malton Squeeler" and had a grimmace of effort crossing the finish line just missing out of going under the half hour with 30:18 and sixth place. Father and son team raced each other with the results being very close. Matthew Wilson (31:48) beat his dad Mike by only eigth seconds, while newbie Frank Tobin brought in the rear with 34:07, a grand time that Im sure he will better.
One member who would probably prefer not to be mentioned is Sean McDermott who missed a turning and visited Castle Howard and rolled home 40 minutes plus.

1. Paul Hickman 25:40 (A)
2. Steve Kneeshaw 26:14 (A)
3. Nigel Goscinski 26:29 (A)
4. Rob Powel 27:59
5. Cameron Turner 29:10 (A)
6. Johnny Kendal 30:18

8. Mike Wilson 31:56
9. Frank Tobin 34:07

18 July - 10m Time Trial

Picture
There was a strong wind for Wednesday evenings 10mile time trial on the newly resurfaced Malton/Pickering road.
The rough surface didn't hamper winner Paul (Paulo) Hickman who, setting off last, nearly passed all the minute intervalled riders with a time of 22:39, putting more than a minute in second placed Matthew Enticknap 24:00. Colin Baldwin was over the moon to be within a minute of Enticknaps time coming in third with 24:54.
Sean McDermott was pleased with his time of 25:56 and hoping that the Time Trial training will be of benefit to his triathalon competitons. Johnny Kendall joined Malton Wheelers as a birthday present from his partner and this was his first ever time trial. Finishing with a time of 28:24 is a really good time for a newby because to ride a good time trial takes quite a bit of experience. Dave Frith returns to cycle racing after a knee operation and showing his scars of in his shorts, finished with 28:52. Dave was informed by his Doctor that cycling is one of the best ways of recovering from a knee operation.

1. Paul Hickman - 22:39 (A)
2. Matthew Enticknap - 24:00 (A)
3. Colin Baldwin - 24:54
4. Sean McDermott - 25:56 (A)
5. Tim Davies - 27:48
6. Johny Kendall - 28:24
7. Dave Frith - 28:52 (A)

4th July - 15m Time Trial

Picture
A rather muggy night greeted the 5 Malton Wheelers for their annual 15mile Time Trial thats heads through Thornton le Dale, Pickering and Old Malton Roundabout. The heavy atmospheric conditions made breathing a little difficult when under pressure but at least the rain held off.
Paul (Paulo) Hickman was triumphant in coming home with first prize and the course record with 33:19, thats an average speed of 27mph! Colin Baldwin was second with a time of 36:17. Hats off to this guy who was riding on a standard road bike without the aid of aerodynamics. Third was Sean McDermott with 37:17, while Duncan Humphries finished in 37:53. Cameron Turner is still enjoying his return to cycling and finished with a credible 38:23.
As expected, Paul is overall leader of the aero club points, whereas Colin is the leader in the standard road bike competion.

1. Paul Hickman - 33:19 (A)
2. Colin Baldwin - 36:17
3. Sean McDermott - 37:17 (A)
4. Duncan Humphries - 37:53 (A)
5. Carmeron Turner - 38:23 (A)

27 June - 10m Hilly Time Trial

Picture
It was a fuggy evening, warm and humid with a headwind towards Slingsby which pavoured aero rider Paul Hickman who finished first again with 25 minutes 43 seconds. Colin Baldwin is also flying at the moment and loves this hilly course came in second with 27:22 while Matthew Enticknap found it difficult to even get going but finished with a credible 28:50.
A welcome return to cycling from a long season of running was Cameron Turner who showed that no fitness has been lost and finished with a good time of 29:35 and Duncan Humphries (Pictured) brought back the days lantern rouge with 30:25.
After a number of months now, Paul Hickman is overall leader with 397 points in the aero competition and Colin Baldwin is overall leader in the non-aero competion with 399 points.

1. Paul Hickman - 25:43 (A)
2. Colin Baldwin - 27:22
3. Matthew Enticknap - 28:50
4. Cameron Turner - 29:35
5. Duncan Humphries - 30:25 (A)

20 June - 5m Time Trial

Picture
A surprising low turnout for Malton Wheelers latest 5 mile time trial on a warm, bright and relatively still evening. What wind there was was in the riders faces on the return leg.
Paul (Paulo) Hickman took first prize again with a time of 10:35 smashing last weeks time by nearly 30 seconds and resulting in another personal best. Relieved of other cycling duties, Matthew Enticknap was "happy" with second in 10:58, with Ralph Lilley rounding up the top three with 11:16.
A surprise entry was Ged Kerins who been cycling for pleasure for the last few years, showed he can still turn out a grand time finishing 4th with 11:34. Duncan Humphries (12:21) finished just ahead of Sean McDermott (12:24), pictured, who took home the lantern rouge on the night.

1. Paul Hickman - 10:35 (A)
2. Matthew Enticknap - 10:58 (A)
3. Ralph Lilley - 11:16 (A)
4. Ged Kerins - 11:34 (A)
5. Duncan Humphries - 12:21
6. Sean McDermott - 12:24 (A)

13 June - 5m Time Trial

Picture
10mile Time Trial cancelled due to roakworks.
The weather was not the nicest, but the results were. Under a drizzle of rain, temperatures around the 8 degree celcius mark and a nagging head wind on the return, 8 hardy riders raced up and down the Malton/Pickering road for Malton Wheelers latest club Time Trial.
Without last weeks winner, Charles Goodway to contend with, Paul Hickman raced to a clear victory over the five miles with a time of 11:02. Ralph Lilley, spledid in his British Cycling skinsuit followed with 11:35, but "hats off" to Dennis Distributions' Colin Baldwin who finished under the 12minute mark with 11:51. Quite an achievement considering his un-earo position and bicycle.
New boy, Micheal Carter (pictured) thought that competing in a 5m TT would be easier than a 10m TT but soon realised the error of his ways due to the increased amount of effort needed in the shorter distances. He finished with 12:15 which is rather a good time, while Barrie Cappleman really didn't enjoy the outing and finished in 12:27.
Duncan Humphries beat his previous outing on this course by nearly 30 seconds, finishing in 12:29, but the tussle for the lantern rouge continues between Tim Davies and Dan Gadsby. Tims time was 13:06, but taking the lantern home was Dan Gadsby 13:14

1. Paul Hickman - 11:02 (A)
2. Ralph Lilley - 11:35 (A)
3. Colin Baldwin - 11:51
4. Micheal Carter - 12:15 (A)
5. Barrie Cappleman - 12:27 (A)
6. Duncan Humphries - 12:29
7. Tim Davies - 13:06
8. Dan Gadsby - 13:14

6 June - 10m Time Trial

Picture
After a day of heavy downpours, Wednesday evening proved to be just right for the Ryedale road racers. There was no wind to hinder the timed riders on the 10 mile Malton/Pickering road and the times of the racers reflected this.
Charles Goodway(pictured) returned to racing 'up North' with the Malton Wheelers after having moved to London last year and stormed into an unsurprising first position with 21:46, Paul Hickman clocked up another personal best for the course with 21:50 the first time under 22minutes. Steve Kneeshaw completed the podium with 22:11. Colin Baldwin was the only un-aero rider finished infront of three aero riders with 23:59 and another PB. Visitor from Clifton CC M. Carter finished the course with 24:34 which is a great time on a new course. Duncan Humphries bettered his time earlier in the year by nearly 2 minutes to cross the line with 25:19, while Mick Potter finished in 25:25. Mick is concentrating more on running now with success in long distance cross country racing.

1. Charles Goodway - 21:46(A)
2. Paul Hickman - 21:50(A)
3. Steve Kneeshaw - 22:11(A)
4. Colin Baldwin - 23:59
5. M. Carter - 24:34(A)
6. Duncan Humphries - 25:19(A)
7. Mick Potter - 25:25(A)

30 May - Leavening Scramble

Picture
Paul Hickman is riding so well at the moment, can this form last until the end of September when the road race season ends we all ask. He finished top of the class again this week on this tough 6 miler up to Leavening from Norton with 14:22. Mark Hichcock has quickly found his racing legs and finished second with 14:36, while in third was Matthew Enticknap with 14:41.
Steve Kneeshaw would probably of come first, but took a wrong turning finishing in 14:58. Still a good time!
Colin Baldwin was the first non-aero rider again. Using his road racing skills, he finished in 15:10. The last three riders, Duncan Humphries, Tim Davies and Dan Gadsby (pictured) crossed the finish line with 17:05, 17:28 and 17:53. Dan again brought home the lantern rouge, last man in cycling terms. In the early days of the Tour de France, the rider at the back would wear a red light to notify following traffic.

1. Paul Hickman - 14:22 (A)
2. Mark Hitchcock - 14:36 (A)
3. Matthew Enticknap - 14:41 (A)
4. Steve Kneeshaw - 14:58 (A)
5. Colin Baldwin - 15:10
6. Duncan Humphries - 17:05
7. Tim Davies - 17:28
8. Dan Gadsby - 17:53

23 May - 10m Hilly Time Trial

Picture
A lovely warm evening with not much wind greeted the Ryedale Riders on Wednesday evening on the Hambleton Hills for Malton Wheelers 10 mile hilly Time Trial.
The course record from 2009 was broke by two riders, Paul Hickman and Steve Kneeshaw beat the old record of 25:51 which was set by Paul. Mr Hickman renewed this record with 25:18, beating Steves 25:36. Mark Hitchcock is quickly finding his racing wheels finish the lumpy route with 26:15.
Ralph Lilley was unsure about riding due to a mechanical with his machine, but rode anyway finishing with 26:23 and an evening tweeking his gears when got back home.
Colin Baldwin was again true to form being the first non aero rider beating true road racer Patrick Mudd with times of 26:38 to Pats' 26:50.
Fighting for the lantern rouge was Tim Davies (29:56), but Richard McGuire brought it home with 30:49.

1. Paul Hickman - 25:18 (A)
2. Steve Kneeshaw - 25:36 (A)
3. Mark Hitchcock - 26:15 (A)
4. Ralph Lilley - 26:23 (A)
5. Colin Baldwin - 26:38
6. Patrick Mudd - 26:50
7. Tim Davies - 29:56
8. Richard McGuire - 30:49

16 May - 10m Time Trial

Picture
What a difference a couple of weeks make! At the last 10mile Time Trial on the Malton/Pickering road the wind was blowing a gale from the North which also made it increadibly cold. This week it was relatively warm for April, but this was May! With a slight wind from the East, there was no escape.
Steve Kneeshaw once again smashed the competion by claiming first place with 22:28. This guy has really found his wheels in the art of TimeTrialling. Regular riders Paul Hickman, Ralph Lilley and Matthew Enticknap followed in Steves wake with 22:41, 22:56 and 23minutes dead.
A surprise result from Dennis Distributions' Colin Baldwin (pictured) crossed the line with 24:14 and the first rider on a normal road bicycle. He was nearly 2 minutes quicker than the previous 10m event.
The last two aero dynamic riders were Barrie Cappleman 25:00 and Mick Potter 25:08. Potter found the going rather heavy and could not get his machine "up to speed".
Sean McDermott was over the moon with his 25:36, this latest time boads well for his Triathalon training. Newcomer, Dan Gadsby loved his first 10m Time Trail and finished in 26:52.
Duncan Humphries put Nick Caddy in his place beating Nicks time of 27:09 by six seconds, bringing home the lantern rouge again was Tim Davies with 27:20.

1. Steve Kneeshaw 22.28 (A)
2. Paul Hickman 22:41 (A)
3. Ralph Lilley 22:56 (A)
4. Matthew Enticknap 23:00 (A)

6. Barrie Cappleman 25:00 (A)
7. Mick Potter 25:08 (A)
8. Sean McDermott 25:36
9. Dan Gadsby 26:52
10. Duncan Humphries 27:03
11. Nick Caddy 27:09
12. Tim Davies 27:20

9 May - 5m Time Trial

Picture
Wednesday 9th May was a mucky, wet night for the seven hardy bike racers. There was even talk of cancelling the 5mile race, but the decision was taken to race before the heavier rain clouds ended up above them.
Paul Hickman (Pictured) span the pedals round with ease to win overall with a time of 11:23 pushing Matthew Enticknap into second position with 11:37.
There was a minute between the two aero riders and the remaining riders on “normal” cycles, the first of those being Colin Baldwin with a fast time of 12:48 and the only standard bike racer under 13 minutes. One second separated Duncan Humphries (13:09) and Tim Davies (13:10), while Nick Caddy came in with 13:16.
Leeds visitor, Dan Gatsby crossed the line with a credible 13:26. A good time for a Time Trial virgin.

1. Paul Hickman - 11:23 (A)
2. Matthew Enticknap - 11:37 (A)
3. Colin Baldwin - 12:48
4. Duncan Humphries - 13:09
5. Tim Davies - 13:10
6. Nick Caddy - 13:16
7. Dan Gatsby - 13:26

2 May - 10m Time Trial

Picture
The club Time Trial season is now underway!
With the previous 5m TT cancelled due to the terrible weather, it was great to welcome familiar and new faces to Malton Wheelers first Time Trial of the season. Timekeepers, Joan Bourne and Jamie Strangeway were ready with their stopwatches on what was a rather windy night. The wind was virtually due South aiding all riders to the turn on the Malton/Pickering road but return was absolute hell.
The hard Winter training  on a static bike clearly showed as Steve Kneeshaw (pictured) blew the field apart with a time of 23:05, this was of course a personal best. Hot on Steves wheels were Paul Hickman and Ralph Lilley tie-ing with 23:35, while Matthew Enticknap was the last rider to finish under 24mins with 23:43.
Newcomer, Ewan Brown, a Student from Wales who has recently moved to Malton put in a cracking time of 25:30 with Patrick Mudd from Pickering crossing the line at 25:34 and the first non-aero rider.
Barrie Cappleman and Colin Baldwin continue the tussles from last year with times 25:58 and 25:59 respectively. Mark Hitchcock finished in 26:22. Mark has had quite some time away from racing, but returns new with renewed figour and the need to improve. It took 27 minutes dead for Adrian Taylor to ride the 10miles with only one second between Tim Davies (28:02) and Sean McDermot (28:03) who brought home the latern rouge.

1. Steve Kneeshaw - 23:05 (A)
2. Paul Hickman - 23:35 (A)
2. Ralph Lilley - 23:35 (A)
4. Matthew Enticknap - 23:43 (A)
5. Ewan Brown - 25:30 (A)
6. Patrick Mudd - 25:34
7. Barrie Cappleman - 25:58 (A)
8. Colin Baldwin - 25:59
9. Mark Hitchcock - 26:22 (A)
10. Adrian Taylor - 27:00 (A)
11. Tim Davies - 28:02
12. Sean McDermott - 28:03

25 April - 5m Time Trial

What a washout. Only Tim Davies rode to the start of the time tral which had to be cancelled due to the weather.
